Who hasn’t heard of McDonald’s? It’s the no. 1 fast-food chain worldwide. 3. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)
Where do Filipinos flock when they want some finger lickin’ good fried chicken? Arguably, most of you will say KFC and you would be right! Colonel Harland Sanders started franchising his restaurant in 1952 in the United States and by 1971 it opened its doors world-wide. The conglomerate Yum! Brands, has acquired KFC for international franchising. They are marketing the chain aggressively everywhere and so if you too are interested and a chicken lover, KFC would suit you best!
How to Apply:
Yum! Brands’ international franchising division, Yum Restaurant International (YRI) takes franchising in a different way. They match franchisee, markets, and brand on a per country basis. Currently, they only take inquiries for Taco Bell in the Philippines.
3 Step Process
- Contact and Application – Fill out a Franchise Information Request Form thru the online Franchise Information Request Application. A Regional Franchise Recruitment Manager (RFRM) will contact you and you will be asked to complete and return a comprehensive Franchisee Application.
- Evaluation – The RFRM will evaluate your background and a meeting with the YRI management team will be set. The period usually takes 8 – 12 weeks of processing.
- Approval – Market development zone and site selection process will take place. Once approved, restaurant training will begin for you and your staff.

Robert Kuan’s plan with ChowKing was to make it a local Chinese –themed counterpart to the popular McDonald’s. Thus this unique concept brought her success, and was acquired in 2000 by Jollibee Food Corporation and is now enjoyed internationally as well – in the United States, Middle East, and Indonesia.

Founded by Cresida Tueres in 1971, it started as a small over-the-counter shop in Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan City. By 2006, Jollibee Foods Corp. owned the Greenwich name and it has since then become the largest pizza chain nationwide.
