How to Register an Account with PAGIBIG Fund as a Voluntary Member

Pag-IBIG Fund is a government program that helps Filipino families to make their dream houses come true in the course of the housing loans they offer. Due to the fact that it is one of the most beneficial investments available to citizens, a lot of people are intending to acquire membership to be able to build the perfect home for their families.

Can anyone register as a member with this program?

Pagibig FundProvidentially, most citizens don’t need to acquire membership for Pag-IBIG Fund for themselves as it is commonly prepared by the company a registrant is working for. However, it is quite unfortunate for those who don’t have stable jobs as they aren’t granted the privilege of having it prepared just like how it is for the employed citizens. They have to personally shoulder the cost of the contribution since they aren’t a part of any company.

Nonetheless, business owners or self-employed or unemployed registrants may still apply for an account with Pag-IBIG as it is not much of a hassle to register on your own. By registering for an account, citizens will fall under the Voluntary Member category.

In addition, there are also certain qualifications for anyone who intends to be a member of the said program.

  1. Not more than sixty-five (65) years old at the date of loan application and must be insurable; provided further that he is not more than seventy (70) years old at loan maturity;
  2. Has the legal capacity to acquire and encumber real property;
  3. Has passed satisfactory background/credit and employment/business checks of the Pag-IBIG Fund;
  4. Has no outstanding Pag-IBIG housing loan, either as a principal borrower or co-borrower;
    However, should a co-borrower in a tacked loan signify an intention to avail of a Pag-IBIG housing loan for himself, he shall be allowed to do so provided the tacked loan is updated and the amount proportionate to his loan entitlement has been fully paid. Hence, the co-borrower shall be released from the original obligation and shall be allowed to avail of his own Pag-IBIG housing loan, subject to standard evaluation procedures.
  5. Had no Pag-IBIG housing loan that was foreclosed, cancelled, bought back due to default, or subjected to dacion en pago, which shall include cases where the borrower is no longer interested to pursue the loan and surrenders the property;
  6. Has no outstanding Pag-IBIG multi-purpose loan in arrears at the time of loan application. A member whose multi-purpose loan is in arrears shall be required to pay his arrearages over the counter to update his account.

How much does the monthly contribution cost for the Voluntary Membership category?

The amount of contribution doesn’t differ that much. For employed members, the maximum amount of contribution is currently priced at a measly amount of P100 which is shouldered individually by the employer and the employee themselves.

Meanwhile, for unemployed members who are considered as reactivating member or non-working spouse of an actively paying member is also priced at P100. Moreover, the unemployed member may upgrade their monthly contributions if they prefer, but is not allowed to lower down the amount.

Also, self-paying members or voluntary members are given the opportunity to choose the terms of payment they prefer. They can commit to monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly.

For the individuals who are intending to register for themselves, who want to manage their own contributions, here are the things they would need to know for a hassle-free application.
